📌  INFO1 ðŸ“Œ
Being literate is something a person hs or is educated with the things around them. With this, and individual is literate in media and information if he or she identify, know, use, and understand them. He or she has the knowledge on how to use media and information wisely, intellectually, and truthfully. Using these two, he or she will be able to give and receive information from other people that will keep the connection or communication between the them. Not only being able to utilize it wisely but also developing knowledge or information from the media that will help the community or society for future purposes.

The activities/habits I practice that illustrate media and information literacy are the following:

  • Check the basic information of a post to know if it is fake or not
    • This usually happens when there are news of class suspensions. There are people who are posting or sharing class suspensions from previous years. When someone posts or shares news, I always look at the website first if it is credibly known or a credible source and check if the date when it is posted is correct or not to avoid spreading or sharing false news to others.
    • Blurring the important details when posting identification cards or the like
      • I love posting pictures especially when it is something memorable for me such as when travel/plane tickets, old and present IDs, and others. But there are important details that should not be known or exposed to others like my address, student ID, barcodes and the like because these information will let others track me and can eventually harm me.
    • Following the MTRCB rating of any film or shows
      • If I am not watching in my laptop, I watch TV so every time the show changes, there is an MTRCB rating reminding the viewers like me of what the content of the show is. So since I know the ratings, I know that I should not watch if it is not appropriate for my age especially the SPG rating that has more serious theme than others. Aside from TV shows, movies also have these ratings. If it is not suitable for me, I will not watch it. Of course, every viewers like me should be responsible and matured enough when watching shows since it gives information that can influence or affect us, the viewers.
