A local government official was charged of graft and corruption and was suspended from his office. The government official announced that the charges were all fabricated and that he will not step down from his office. A large group of supporters are present to protest. They barricaded the building where the official has once taken office. A struggle seems to start breaking out between the protesters and the police. If you will be a reporter, are you going to use the conventional way of how the each media will broadcast the given scenario? If I will be a reporter, I will still use the conventional way of how the each media will broadcast the given scenario because those are known to people in giving reliable news and happenings around us or in our country. "Language is a source of misunderstanding." -McLuhan, 1964 Language is a instrument or medium that we use to communicate. If we misuse it, we can disseminate wrong information. We also have different languages that can cause different interpretations. Language is also used in nonverbal, some are intended for the receiver but some are not which also causes misunderstanding. Language also comes with culture. We have different cultures that others may fund it wrong or disrespect to them. Does the user's/audience's own background or experience affect the interpretation of messages? How? Yes. We all have different beliefs and perspectives that we believed in. Culture also affects, other may find it right or disrespect them. Is it possible that a different individual derives a different meaning from the message? Explain. Yes.
